"Liverpool have really good support and a good team. It is never changed.

"We go to Anfield and then, trying to win and if you don't, the next thing you want to do is try to get a tie.

"I definitely would be happy on Wednesday when my team wins," added Moyes, who celebrates his 10th anniversary as Everton boss the day after the game.

"But, whatever happens, I will still wake up with a good feeling because I've done 10 years at a big club like Everton."

The visitors have not tasted a road victory since Kevin Campbell's winner in 1999 as in armature Walter Smith's side overcame Gerard Houllier of men.

"(Bill Kenwright) which gave me a chance maybe young managers would not get these days, and I hope that he has his justified"

Everton manager David Moyes It will not have escaped Moyes Everton side of that are upwardly mobile will go for Liverpool in the league table if this misfire victorious. The last time the Toffees were above their rivals city after 28 matches of a Premier League season was seven years ago, when Everton eventually finished in fourth place in the table-one position clear of the reds. It was also the last time they finished above Liverpool come the end of the season.

With a home FA Cup date with Sunderland looming over the weekend, Moyes will ten years with his birthday that now familiar steely look in his eyes, while the real celebrations focused on the end of the season come recognize.

A Merseyside derby looks like only the armature must reorient their thoughts the team Liverpool now. Defeat at Sunderland last weekend saw Kenny Dalglish slide the side to three consecutive league defeats for the first time since 2003-the last time they lost four on the spin? Ironically a decade ago in late 2002.

The Reds mini slump seems to have all but ended up lingering Champions League qualification hopes with Arsenal, one of the sides to beat them during this period, now well clear of them. Fit-again Captain Steven Gerrard, set for a landmark occasion of his own by playing in his 400th Premier League game, a rallying call to his team-mates claim that the consistency levels are simply "not good enough".

Gerrard, who has a hamstring injury while on international duty with England picked up, made his comeback as a substitute against Sunderland and is aimed at an end of season surge back up the rankings, as well as further progress in the FA Cup. Stoke City travel to Anfield in the quarter-finals on Sunday.

Head-to-head

This is the 217th Liverpool win Merseyside derby: Everton have 85 compared with 66 victories. The two clubs met at Anfield on this date in 1994, Ian Rush and Robbie Fowler scoring Reds legends offset Dave Watson's opener in a 2-1 Liverpool win. 20 players are sent out in 39 Premier League matches were played between the two neighbouring countries. Steven Gerrard has two red cards, such as Phil Neville.

Liverpool

Kenny Dalglish has won 12, drawn and lost three of his seven Merseyside derbies as manager, Liverpool, 22-including two victories of the FA Cup final against them in 1986 and 1989. In total he is unbeaten in his last 11 matches against Everton as Liverpool manager, since a 1-0 away defeat in March 1988. Liverpool have only four of their opening 13 Premier League home games, their least in this stage of a top flight season in 50 years, since winning four of the first 13 in 1951-52 campaign won. It's only 10 Premier League points from the last 33 available for the Reds. If seleected, Steven Gerrard in his 400th match of the Premier League will appear. He is the 25th player to reach this milestone, and only the fifth to reach for a single club after Ryan Giggs (592), Jamie Carragher (476), Paul Scholes (474) and Gary Neville (400).

Everton

David Moyes has three of his 19 Merseyside derbies (11 defeats) won. All three victories come at Goodison Park. The Toffees are on a seven-match unbeaten run (W3, D4). Only Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool have less than admitted but only Stoke Wigan and Everton have scored fewer. Everton are still winning at one side higher than to lose them in the table but still on one side lower than them.

Celtic await Cup replay winners

Holders Celtic will face the winners of the St Mirren versus Hearts replay in the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup.

Aberdeen take on Hibernian in the other all-Scottish Premier League tie after the draw at Fir Park following the Dons' 2-1 win over 10-man Motherwell.

Celtic had earlier overwhelmed 4-0 a Dundee United side who had also been reduced to 10 men for much of the game at Tannadice.

The ties at Hampden Park will be played on 14/15 April.

Hearts travel to St Mirren Park on Wednesday 21 March for their replay after the Buddies came from behind to draw 2-2 at Tynecastle on Saturday.

The draw avoided a possible Edinburgh derby, Hearts city rivals, Hibs, having seen off the last challenge from the First Division with a 2-0 win over cup specialists Ayr United.

Instead, Pat Fenlon's side will take on Craig Brown's Aberdeen, with the latter expressing his pleasure at avoiding the runaway SPL leaders and Cup holders.

"We're delighted to be in the draw," said the Dons manager. "All the teams are fairly even.

"Celtic are the best team I think and to avoid them is fortunate, but I'm not taking anything for granted.

"You see the way they played, we made heavy weather of the game today, so we need to improve against Hibs in the semi-final.

"But we were playing a very good Motherwell side with few injuries.

"I'm delighted for the Aberdeen fans and they deserve it.

"They've travelled everywhere and the support we have has been incredible"

Derby will decide title - Mancini

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota
By Peter Shuttleworth BBC Sport Wales at the Liberty Stadium Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini says the Premier League title will be decided when his side face Manchester United with three games to go.

Mancini's side lost top spot to United following their shock defeat to Swansea and trail their neighbours by a point.

But City host United at Etihad Stadium on 30 April and Mancini believes that game will prove to be the decider.

"Today was not critical. I think this championship will be decided with three games to go," Mancini told BBC Sport.

While City were being beaten 1-0 by Swansea on Sunday, United leapfrogged above them thanks to a 2-0 victory against West Bromwich Albion , but Mancini says he is unconcerned about losing top spot now with only 10 games to go.

The Italian also says he is confident that City can still win their first title in 44 years.

"We should fight against them until the end," added Mancini. "We have another 10 games to finish this championship.

"The season is long and every week the situation could change.

"Now it is important we are very comfortable together. It is better to stay at the top but, now we are behind, it doesn't change our target.

Brendan Rodgers savours 'wonderful day' for Swansea

"I'm still confident about winning the Premier League. We were top for months but it just so happens that we are second with 10 games to play. It is important that we are there around the top.

"We know United have gone top, like we were, but now we should be more strong and it is a test for our players. It has been a difficult last four days for me but football is like this.

"The season is long and what happened today can happen also to United."

Mancini believes his side deserved something out of Sunday's game, adding: "We missed three or four chances on the counter attack.

"This is the problem at the moment and we conceded a stupid goal.

"I don't think we deserved to lose this game. Swansea played well in the first 30 minutes but in the second half we had control of the game."

The City boss also dismissed suggestions of a rift with England midfielder Gareth Barry, who exchanged angry words with assistant manager David Platt as he left the field after being replaced.

"Gareth has had a problem for three weeks," said Mancini. "Gareth has a problem, I don't know where. It is a small injury.

"They had a lot of possession in the opening 30 minutes and we needed another striker to press high, not because Barry played badly.

When asked about Barry looking unhappy at being taken off, Mancini replied: "This is normal.

"I decide this. I'm the manager."

Asked about reports that striker Mario Balotelli and midfielder Yaya Toure had a bust-up in the tunnel at half-time, Mancini replied: "I don't know."

As for his latest update on Carlos Tevez, Mancini feels that the Argentine striker is still 10 days away from being fit enough to play for the first team.

We will hold our nerve - Ferguson

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson insists his side will hold their nerve in the title race after going top of the Premier League.

United's 2-0 home victory over West Bromwich Albion saw them move a point clear of rivals Manchester City, who suffered a shock 1-0 defeat at Swansea.

And Ferguson says their championship-winning experience will count as they look to claim their 20th league title.

"We won't get nervous. We have the experience," Ferguson told BBC Sport.

With 10 games to go, United are now favourites to retain their title, victory having taken them top of the Premier League for the first time since 15 October. And Ferguson says he does not mind being the team to catch.

"I hope it is a significant day," he said. "I don't mind being top of the league at this stage.

"I think we've clawed it back from seven points behind to one point ahead.

"We've turned it around and credit to the players for that. They have shown great resilience and determination.

"We had a period of injuries but we have come through that now. We will keep on playing. It is good to see that type of temperament."

United's victory came courtesy of two goals from Wayne Rooney, who now has 26 for the season, including 15 in his last 14 games, an ominous sign for United's rivals.

But, despite going top, Rooney sounded a word of warning to his United team-mates.

"It's a great win," Rooney told BBC Sport. "But there are 10 games left, a lot can happen and we have to keep our form.

"We are plugging away. We have to keep going and keep picking up the points to get over the line.

"We know what we have to do and hopefully it will be enough. We are in a good position now and hopefully we can maintain our lead."

Man City win 'massive' says Allen

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota
Midfielder Joe Allen believes Swansea City's 1-0 win over Manchester City is a sign of how far the club have developed this season.

Luke Moore's late header secured victory for Swansea to knock Manchester City off the top of the Premier League.

The Swans had lost 4-0 away to City in their opening game but Allen believes the side has come a long way since then.

"It's almost like looking at a different team now," said Allen.

"Maybe we've surprised Man City and we're just thrilled to have beaten a team that was occupying the top place in the table.

"It's a massive marker for how far we've come, how far we've improved individually and collectively as a team.

"I think every single person stepped up to the demands of the Premier League and we're moving in the right direction."

Brendan Rodgers savours 'wonderful day' for Swansea

Allen said the victory over Roberto Mancini's side would rank among his career highlights and a memorable day in the club's history.

"I think it's possibly one of the biggest results the club has ever had," said the international. "[It was] an incredible day for the players and for the club.

"If you compare financially where the clubs stand, that's one of the reasons [the] result is so pleasing.

"Before the game our record was pretty decent against the top teams so we said there was no reason we can't go out there and perform.

"Not many people probably would have thought that meant three points but we worked extremely hard.

"It's a massive day for the club and for the history of the club I think."

Allen said substitute Moore, whose 83rd minute header secured victory, was a worthy match winner.

Mancini confident of regaining top spot

The former Aston Villa and West Bromwich Albion player has been restricted to appearances from the bench this season but scored his third goal of the campaign.

"He's come on, especially in recent times, and done fantastically well for us," added Allen.

"He hasn't played probably as much as he would have hoped throughout the season.

"But he's a really important player for us and I think every single player in this dressing room will agree that he deserved that goal."

Goalscorer Moore believes the Swans are capable of finishing their debut Premier League season on a high with 10 games remaining.

"We're in a nice position because we can possibly kick on," said Moore.

"Each game is hard, we've got Fulham next week and they've got some great players. We just take each game as it comes and try and kick on.

"We can only play one way and we always stick to our principles and that's passing the ball.

"We've got a great team camaraderie so we all stick together. It's good for the group as a collective."

Officials cost us game - Hughes

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota
Queens Park Rangers manager Mark Hughes says match officials are not doing their jobs following his side's 2-1 defeat by Bolton.

The referee failed to award QPR a goal at 0-0, despite television replays showing Clint Hill's header clearly crossing the line.

Hughes said: "We have to demand that their performances are better. The referee was let down by his assistant.

"Clearly the ball was over the line. The linesman is there to see that."

Hughes added: "That is what his job is. We can't have key moments in games being officiated in the way they are at the moment.

"The official should do their job, looking down their line. The linesman's job is to check for that. No excuse, because it wasn't a close decision."

The Football Association issued a statement before the game had ended, calling for goal-line technology to be introduced "as soon as possible".

Hughes said: "Laughably the FA have come out almost immediately and said they're in favour of goal-line [technology].

"What we're finding is that key moments and key decisions in games are going against us. We just need officials to give us a fair crack of the whip.

"You have to understand the significance of scoring first. We were the away side and we would have gone on from that point."

The FA statement read: "The FA would like to reiterate our strong desire to see goal-line technology introduced as soon as possible.

"The FA has been a leading proponent of goal-line technology for many years. We will continue to press for its introduction once further independent testing is complete later this year, so that anyone wishing to introduce the technology is able to do so at the earliest possible opportunity."

It comes a week after the introduction of goal-line technology moved closer to implementation  when the latest tests were considered at the annual general meeting of the International Football Association Board (IFAB).

IFAB, which sees the four home nations and Fifa come together to discuss the laws of the game, recommended that two versions of goal-line technology be put forward for further trials.

O'Hara in confrontation with fans

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota
Wolves midfielder Jamie O'Hara was involved in a verbal confrontation with supporters after their 2-0 defeat by Blackburn in the Premier League.

A source told BBC Sport that O'Hara was surrounded by protesting fans at around 1800 GMT and "told them to go away", leading to a further exchange of words.

O'Hara was with his partner, model Danielle Lloyd, and children at the time of the incident.

The club are yet to decide whether to begin an investigation.

The incident occurred when O'Hara came out of the ground with his family and passed by a group of supporters. The midfielder was carrying one of his young sons at the time.

After the initial exchange, the Wolves player and his family moved away and went towards their car.

Jamie O'Hara, 25, and his model partner Danielle Lloyd, 28, have two children who are both aged under two, Archie and Harry

As they were getting into their car, further words were exchanged before he eventually drove away. O'Hara texted the club shortly afterwards to inform them of what happened.

O'Hara's partner was "upset" and "disgusted" by the incident. Her husband played the full 90 minutes during a game in which there were protests against chairman Steve Morgan and chief executive Jez Moxey.

Wolves manager Terry Connor says the demonstrations are hurting everyone at the club. Some fans expressed their unhappiness before kick-off and unfurled banners against the board who decided to dismiss Mick McCarthy.

There were further protests after the game with Morgan eventually going to speak to those involved.

"If there is a protest going on, it is against all of us," Connor said. "It is not easy to ignore, but we are all employees of the football club.

"Players, staff, everyone concerned. We are all in it together."

Cutting edge the difference - Connor

Blackburn forward Junior Hoilett's double left Wolves 19th in the table, with one win in their last 14 Premier League games, and some supporters are angry at the handling of Connor's appointment.

Steve Bruce, Alan Curbishley and Reading boss Brian McDermott were all considered for the post before former assistant Connor was given the job until the end of the season.

And he remains confident that his side can stay up.

He said: "I understand the supporters' frustrations, they want us to win our games but it's not always possible.

"They must keep coming and supporting, and we'll keep trying 100% until the last game of the season."

In contrast to the situation at Wolves, Blackburn Rovers manager Steve Kean believes he has finally won over the club's fans after climbing out of the relegation zone.

Kean, 44, has been the subject of sustained protests all season but praised the 1,400 Rovers fans who made the trip to Molineux. "For everybody involved it's been tough but the results are coming," commented the Scot.
